Traditional Craftsmanship ...
Cellos and double basses, viols and violas d’amore are more than just violins.
Not only because Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played a "Mittenwalderin," these violins are well-known. Since the Klotz family founded the first violin maker's workshop around 1685, this craftsmanship still shapes the townscape of Mittenwald today. Numerous violin and string instrument makers, as well as the Violin Making School, are based here.
Since 1930, significant collector's items of violin making and a piece of Mittenwald's history have been housed in the Violin Making Museum.
There are more than 200 instruments exhibited there, from high-quality masterpieces to simple children's violins.
Dear guests, you should definitely not miss a visit to the Violin Making Museum in Mittenwald!
