Our Karwendel Alps

The Karwendel Alpine region impresses with its nature experience center at an altitude of 2244 meters. By now, it's clear that high up on the mountain, there's a different world. Experience nature and fauna up close.

Take the Karwendel Cable Car high above and perhaps you'd like to experience downhill through the Dammkar and via the Mittenwalder Via Ferrata down to the Mittenwalder Hut on foot.

Karwendel Cable Car

On the KarwendelWith the Karwendel Cable Car, overcome the altitude meters to the Karwendelspitze in just a few minutes. The cable car runs daily from 9 am to 4 pm, departing every half hour. A round trip ticket is available for approximately 32.50 EUR.

Simply relax in one of the sun loungers in summer and enjoy the magnificent view.

Not only winter sports enthusiasts will enjoy themselves, but also people with less alpine experience can feel the magnificent mountain romance.

Mittenwalder Via Ferrata

Mittenwalder Via FerrataThe Mittenwalder Via Ferrata, often called the Mittenwald High Trail, starts near the mountain station at the Karwendel Cable Car below the western Karwendelspitze. After circling the Karwendelgrube, the trail begins, which is more suitable for experienced hikers, along the Linderspitze to the Brunnsteinscharte. From there, the via ferrata leads to the Brunnstein Hut and into the valley.

One should have experience in mountain hiking and surefootedness, as well as be free from vertigo, as the path leads over ladders and wire-secured sections. The via ferrata can be completed in four hours, but a full day should be planned for the entire tour.

Mittenwalder Hütte

Like an eagle's nest, the Mittenwalder Hütte towers over the Karwendel. A magnificent view opens up over the Mieming Range and the Wetterstein Mountains into the distant horizon. An ideal place for climbing and mountaineering.

After a strenuous hike up to the Hütte, a hearty snack here is just the thing.
